Atari's New Research Laboratory

Atari has established in New York City a new research laboratory dedicated to the exploration of microprocessor-based products in electronic publishing and transactional services for home computers.

Headed by Steven T. Mayer, vice president of research and product development, the new lab will be responsible for development of advanced products for Atari, a leading manufacturer of coin-operated and home video games and home computers. The lab will also function as a focus for joint research projects with other subsidiaries of Warner Communications Inc., Atari's parent company. The lab staff includes computer programmers and scientists who will build on Atari's expertise in electronic entertainment and computation.
