ENTREPRENEUR JUNGLE

BY WILLIAM AUSTIN

ANTIC SUPER DISK BONUS, MARCH
1988

Entrepreneur Jungle is a fast,
full-featured stock market
simulation with added
contemporary touches such as the
legal and ethical temptations of
insider trading. Your BASIC
broker is an 8-bit Atari computer
with at least 48K memory and disk
drive.

Only a few keystrokes are
necessary to control the trading
action as you claw your way to
great wealth. When a given stock
is being offered for speculation,
the player can [B]uy, [S]ell or
move on to a different
opportunity for speculation.
Pressing the [SPACEBAR] will take
you to the next investment area
without action being taken.
[RETURN] needs to be pressed only
during a transaction, when a
dollar amount or number of shares
is entered.

When you're asked if you want to
take advantage of an investment,
entering [Y]es displays the
options.

If you obtain control of a firm
(better than 50% of the
outstanding stock), fluctuation
will double. If you acquire
100%, fluctuation will quadruple.
This tends to bankrupt a poorly
financed company, although the
potential profits are huge.

MULTINATIONAL ARMS CO.
* Beginning shares: $1,000
* Average per-share amount: $750
* Normal quarterly fluctuation: > $100
* Normal per-share split: $25,000
* Other: This stock is never
  openly traded, and you must
  obtain a letter of introduction
  from a government figure before
it will be offered to you. This
  usually takes an accumulated
  donation to "the party" of
  $5,000.

Multinational will NEVER go
bankrupt. Foreign powers are
dependent upon its products that
they will step in and refinance
if necessary. However, this does
not protect you against loss --
stock values can still plummet
disastrously.

RISQUE FUTURES, INC.

Risque acts as "finders" for
varied investments ranging from
pork belly futures to speculating
in old comic books. Taking part
in these ventures can cost less
than $100 -- or more than
$1,000,000.

The opportunity and first level
investment requirements will be
described to you. To take part
in the venture, enter [Y]es.
Then select one of five levels of
participation. The results of
your investment will be posted in
the next quarter. Risks are
generally high, but the returns
can be magnificent.

BI COASTAL THEATER PRODUCTIONS, LTD.

When your wealth reaches $5,000,
you can become a Broadway "angel"
-- and all the glamour, glitter
and glitz of show business can be
yours. Investing in Bi Coastal
is similar to investing in
Risque. However, many shows
close before the first
performance. However, if your
production goes on stage, you'll
get part of the box office
receipts as long as the show
runs. The usual investment
starts at $5,000, but
occasionally you can invest for
under $1,000.

DARKSIDE VENTURES, INC.

These opportunities are never
publicly offered. A letter of
introduction -- usually costing
$50 to $100 in political
donations -- is necessary before
the proprietors will let you in
on the deal. Dealings are shady
-- sometimes illegal. Both the
risks and the possible profits
are extremely high.

The higher the risk, the more
willing the group is to accept a
smaller investment. You will be
told of the cost of a piece of
the action and, if you say [Y]es,
you'll be asked how many "pieces"
you want. For example, if it is
a very high risk venture, a
"piece" is $100. If you choose
to, you can speculate millions of
dollars with these "gentlemen."
But keep an eye out for the Grand
Jury.

EXPERITECH R&D INC.

When your total assets exceed
$10,000, you can take part in the
cutting edge of new products and
processes. Experitech is a group
of technicians who are always
seeking financial aid for
research and development. Many
projects fail, but successful
ones generate quarterly royalty
payments for the rest of your
career.

If you find yourself short of
cash, you may seek a bid for the
company by arranging to [S]ell
when Experitech is on the board.

PARTY WAR CHEST FOUNDATION

This is the channel by which you
route "donations" (some would
call them bribes) to some of the
politicians. Nothing bad will
happen if you don't donate, but
donations can make a big
difference in your investments.

QUARTERLY REPORT

At the end of every quarter, your
Atari broker will submit a
quarterly report outlining your
current status. At this time you
may [D]eposit or [W]ithdraw money
from your Swiss Bank account.

Your net worth only measures your
wealth in tangible assets.
Intangibles, such as investments
in commodity futures, Darkside
ventures or financing of research
will not be considered in the
compilation.

PLAYING TIPS

A complete game -- 44-plus game
years -- normally takes several
hours. You may leave the program
at any quarter by taking a
[V]acation. You will be informed
as to your net worth, the value
of your patents, how thick your
Grand Jury file is and how large
your political donations are.
Note these figures, and input
them in response to the prompts
when you return.

Of course, your stocks will be
cashed in. You don't want to nap
on the beaches of Bimini with
your investments not being tended
to. When you return, the market
will be different from before --
You're not the only Entrepreneur
manipulating the economic forces.

Command Summary: You may [B]uy,
[S]ell, [W]ithdraw or [D]eposit
money in your Swiss Bank account,
say [Y]es or take a [V]acation.

One last tip: If you should
accidentally, or purposefully,
BREAK out of the program, you may
rejoin the action at the next
quarter by typing GOTO 30000 and
entering [RETURN].
