Computer Products Plus has introduced two models of Road Warrior Portable Battery Packs for laptop computers including those built with 286, 386, and Motorola 68000 chips.

When used with the company's AC inverter or DC-to-DC adapters, the Road Warrior provides enough energy to operate AC-powered 286 laptops for up to 1½ hours with the 8-amp model and more than 2 hours with the 12-amp model. Operating times of 4 hours and longer can be obtained by running battery-powered models through their respective AC adapters.

You get a built-in charger that includes sealed maintenance-free lead-acid batteries for safe use in any position.

Each pack comes with a water-resistant nylon shoulder bag that easily holds the battery pack, charger, and output socket. It also has a front pocket designed to hold the AC inverter, DC-DC adapter, and the battery gas gauge, which shows battery condition.

The 8-amp Road Warrior Battery Pack retails for $ 139.95; the 12-amp version sells for $169.95.
